San Diego Creek in action

Wednesday photos taken around 1:30pm; Thursday around 3pm.

Wed: I didn't notice the rainfall as particularly heavy in the area. But the storm drains are definitely dumping water here. Normally it varies from dry to having some patches of water that usually evaporate in a few days. Here's a prior (drier) view.

Wed #1

Wed #2
Wed #3

Wed #4
Thu: It did seem to rain all day, varying rates, but never super-strong. And yet... now we have City of Irvine signs out saying the underpass parts of the trail (closer to the water) are closed. (We are under a Flash Flood watch.) The water level was definitely higher.

Thu: obeyed the sign, so I couldn't get to the same spot as 1st photo above.
There is still a small island, but it's not visible from this angle.
Couldn't take a photo corresponding to Wed #2 on Thu.

Thu: from the bridge, zoomed & cropped to show the small island remaining.
Disappointed that I didn't get a shot corresponding to Wed #3. Water was definitely higher.

Thu: the same drain outlet as in Wed #4.
Thu: looking upstream from the same location.
The higher ground past the bridge looks like all water; have only seen it a little damp before.

San Diego Creek Trail

An entrance to the trail - with those 2 diamonds.
Pretty reflection, and a view of the boulders installed to slow the water.

If the picture were better, it would make a good jigsaw puzzle.

Part of the path.

Capital Group Park (on Valley Oak)

On each photo, you should be able to Right-Click to open in a new tab, and click again there to get a bigger version.
Really need to enlarge this to see the wooden benches/chairs in the center.

One of several eating areas, each with several small fountains.

Here's one of many safety kiosks around the campus.

pretty flowers

I wish the bougainvillea looked this good on our property. This is along the fence of the community garden, taken from the Valley Oak sidewalk.

4000 Apricot broken tree (today)

I'm 5'6" and had to bend down to walk under this. The sidewalk appears cleaner under the break than elsewhere; someone must have swept away some of the breakage.
